ubyk and ubyk Oxford have won a much deserved accolade in the world of high-end bikes. So how did it all start? Quite simply, it was the successful collaboration of two guys with an addiction to bikes, art and music.
“Essentially, I’m a graphic designer who’s mad about quality bikes. I started getting into bikes in 1990, I was literally thrown into a Cyclo-Cross event by my uncle but didn’t enjoy it! Then the mountain bike arrived and, at the age of 12, I was hooked. As a kid, my hobbies were bikes, drawing and music and I chose to follow the drawing path, graduating as a graphic designer and eventually heading up a London design agency. After learning about web design, marketing and SEO, I decided to use these skills to set up a business that related to my passion for bikes.”
“I’m a chartered accountant who came to cycling late in life as a way of getting and staying fit whilst working in London. I found I had an aptitude for time trialling and began the quest for faster and faster times. I’ve raced at National Championship level from 10 miles up to 50 miles, competed in Open events of up to 100 miles, broken several club records and became Club Champion of High Wycombe CC. I still race at National Championship level for both Senior and Veteran events and have a wealth of experience in time trialling and on road training, more specifically on the turbo.”
